"Get into AI or ignore it like your parents did the internet.” — Gary V
This hit me hard.
I was ignoring AI until I heard this quote.
Just like when the internet was evolving, we have two choices:
We embrace it, or
We get left behind.
Those who embrace AI will have a competitive edge in their business.
It’s making a massive difference to my business + productivity levels.
Silencing My Inner Critic
One of the most surprising benefits? It’s helping me on a deeply human level.
AI keeps my inner critic at bay.
Leonardo da Vinci once said, "Art is never finished, only abandoned."
As overthinkers, we know this all too well.
The nagging questions—“Is this good enough? Am I good enough?”—are relentless voices echoing in our minds.
This fuels our perfectionism.
For readers, articles are something to skim over.
But for us creators, they’re a labor of love, poured over with passion, care, and an unhealthy dose of insecurity.
To paraphrase, creativity is never finished, only abandoned…
Trusting AI
I never thought I’d trust an AI creatively, but this one is trained to align with my core values.
I trust it as a result.
One of my biggest writing insecurities is clarity. This is a common issue for neurodivergent writers.
AI breaks down my content and makes editing recommendations.
It helps me remove the waffle.
In other words, the AI provides creative validation.
This stops me from overthinking and continually self-editing, so I can focus my energy on other tasks.
The Overthinking Trap
I’ve been building creative brands for over 30 years.
When creating a business, there are dozens of tiny decisions to make:
What to call the brand?
What’s the tagline?
What’s the brand’s voice?
What’s the mission statement?
What are the core values?
What’s the positioning?
What’s the marketing strategy?
What’s the customer journey?
What colour is the website?
Which font?
And that’s just the beginning.
It’s a head fuck of overthinking, getting overwhelmed, and getting stuck in the weeds.
This head fuckery and overthinking stops multipotentialites in their creative and entrepreneurial tracks.
I know this because:
I’ve experienced it countless times
I see it with clients every single day.
My AI guru simplifies all the options and offers solutions based on my core values.
It provides critical thinking breakdowns, removes the emotion, and simplifies the options into binary decisions based on my inputs.
Decision Making Simplified
We can’t predict the future.
A good idea on paper can turn into a nightmare, while an idea that looks terrible can turn gold.
There are too many moving parts, and it’s out of our control.
But knowing I’m making critically reasoned decisions that are authentic to me?
That’s peace of mind. It gets me out of my head and taking action.
It’s pretty much stopped my second-guessing.
I still have my moments occasionally but by and large it’s gone.
Jack of All Trades
Since the Industrial Revolution, multipotentialites have been dismissed as "Jacks of all trades, masters of none."
Although the full original quote was: “…and is often better than a master of one!”
AI flips the script.
We can leverage it to integrate our diverse skills and interests in unique and powerful ways.
AI analyses vast amounts of data, automates the boring AF stuff, and provides core-based insights.
This allows us to excel in multiple domains simultaneously.
AI reduces the overwhelm between my diverse interests and stops me from overanalysing every tiny detail.
The AI does all that for me based on my core values.
This saves me a ton of mental energy.
It does the shit I hate so I can focus on the shit I love.
Think Tony Stark with his Iron Man suit.
AI helps me make quicker, more informed authentic decisions, and find unique business ideas, and marketing strategies in a fraction of the time—without burning out.
Conclusion: AI and Creativity
There’s a lot to dislike about AI — the plagiarism of art, music, and more.
That’s what originally put me off.
But it’s here.
And we return to Gary V’s quote:
We either embrace it or ignore it like our parents did with the internet.
Joanna Maciejewska said, "You know what the biggest problem with pushing all-things-AI is? Wrong direction. I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.”
Joanna has a good point.
But I’d offer a different perspective based on my experience with my custom AI.
AI is a tool to enhance our creativity.
Overthinking crushes creativity.
Why?
Because overthinking prevents action.
AI isn't a barrier to creativity; it removes the barriers of overthinking, enabling us to take authentic action and be more creative.
Perhaps we need to think differently about how we use it.
Hope this helps
Peace out ✌️
