Iām going to tell you my secret sauce š
This is how I create āitās like youāre in my headā content. This content drives my inbound leads and makes up 95% of my sales, without being salesy.
Two things:
Iāve experienced the same problems as my younger self (ideal client) so itās authentic
I combine two problem-solving frameworks, which Iāll dive into later.
But first, some context.
When we zoom out there are only two ways to live life philosophically:
āOutside-Inā or āInside-Outā
In a neurotypical society, weāve been conditioned to live outside-in.
But as Robert Greene, the multiple New York Times bestselling author and fellow multipotentialite, states:
āYou can either be externally oriented (Outside-In) or internally oriented (Inside-Out). One is incredibly powerful; the other is incredibly weak and will destroy you.
When you focus on what others think, you lose the space to develop your own confidence, constantly bouncing between others' opinions of you.ā
As Greene states, living Outside-In crushes our potential.
How Can We Live Inside-Out?
Rick Rubin stirred controversy with his philosophy: āThe audience comes last.ā
Rubin believes creating work for ourselves, rather than for an audience, fosters true creativity.
I 100% agree.
Once your work is complete, you can strategise how to maximise its impact with marketing, but the work is created within.
This is Inside Out Creativity.
This isnāt a new concept.
David Bowie embraced this philosophy, saying, āAll my big mistakes are when I try to second-guess or please an audience. My work is always stronger when I get very selfish about it.ā
Every true artist does the same. They express themselves through their work, allowing them to connect deeply with others who feel the same.
It is not for everyone, itās for someone.
Inside Out Content
You can apply this Inside Out philosophy in business as well as creativity.
I see creating content as problem-solving, and problem-solving is all about empathy.
As multipotentialites with diverse interests and pattern recognition skills, we are expert problem solvers and content creators as a direct result.
We just havenāt been taught the tools to do it.
Inside-Out Content Strategy
Great content is not about education.
Itās about connection.
Itās about insights that provide paradigm shifts.
Itās about expressing and articulating a problem through content that other people feel but canāt communicate.
This is true empathy.
When you get this right, youāll receive comments like.
āGet out of my head š !ā or āStop reading my diaryāš
People will pay you to solve their problems.
When you show prospective clients how deeply you understand the issues theyāre experiencing, theyāll be more inclined to buy your solutions.
To create this kind of content, you need two problem-solving frameworks.
Empathy Mapping:
I wrote about this a few weeks ago.
Empathy mapping is the secret sauce for channelling true empathy with the problems your younger self is experiencing.
This gives you the foundational content idea.
The 5 Whys Content Strategyš
This problem-solving technique identifies root causes by asking "why" five times.
Itās one of my favourite methods for creating insightful content which uncovers the disease and not just the symptoms of the disease.
Hereās how I used this simple method to get 853k views, generating over 1,000 new email subscribers and dozens of inbound leads:
(Hook) The reason you donāt know what you want to do with your life is that youāre not taking action.
(Why #1)
āThe reason youāre not taking action is that you have too many ideas and youāre not making decisions.ā
(Why #2)
āThe reason youāre not making decisions is that youāre scared of picking the wrong idea.ā
(Why #3)
āThe reason youāre scared of picking the wrong idea is that youāre scared of wasting your time.ā
(Why #4)
This is creating stress and anxiety.
(Why #5)
Which leads to procrastination.
(Conclusion) Which means youāre stuck doing nothing and wasting your time!
This is a paradox.
Iām using a line from the empathy map and using the Five Whysā framework to go deeper to reveal the paradox.
When you communicate this clearly, you create paradigm shifts which get you leads.
These two frameworks are the foundations of all my videos.
Making Money Is Not Optional
Iām unemployable.
